Amal El-Mohtar is a writer of fiction, poetry, and criticism. She also regularly contributes reviews to NPR Books, and has been the New York Times's science fiction and fantasy columnist since 2018.El-Mohtar's stories and poems have appeared in Tor.com, Lightspeed, Uncanny, Strange Horizons, Apex, Stone Telling, and Mythic Delirium, and in the anthologies "The Djinn Falls in Love & Other Stories," "The Starlit Wood: New Fairy Tales," "Kaleidoscope: Diverse YA Science Fiction and Fantasy Stories," and "The Thackery T. Lambshead Cabinet of Curiosities." Her first book, the collection "The Honey Month," was published in 2010. Her second book, co-authored with Max Gladstone, "This Is How You Lose the Time War," was published in 2019.
