Canice Prendergast is an economist and Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He specializes in microeconomics.Prendergast's papers have appeared in the Economic Journal, the Journal of Labor Economics, the American Economic Review, the Journal of the Japanese and International Economics, and the European Economic Review. His first book, "The Tenuous Trade-Off Between Risk and Incentives" that appeared in the Journal of Political Economy in 2002. His second book, "The Limits of Bureaucratic Efficiency," was published in 2003.Before joining the University of Chicago, Prendergast was a Research Fellow at Nuffield College in Oxford, a lecturer at Jesus College in Oxford, and a research assistant at the Economic and Social Research Institute in Dublin. He was the editor of the Journal of Political Economy and the Journal of Labor Economics.Prendergast received his B.A. in Economics from Trinity College in Dublin, an M.A. in Economics from the London School of Economics, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University.
