Dr. Nilanjana Paul is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, specializing in South Asian history, gender history, and the history of education. Her research focuses on the intersection of colonialism, education, and communal politics. Her book, Bengal Muslims and Colonial Education, 1854-1947: A Study of Curriculum, Educational Institutions and Communal Politics (Routledge, 2022), examines the impact of British colonial education policies on Muslim communities in Bengal. She has published articles on women's education in South Asia Research and the Journal of International Women's Studies. Currently, she is researching the role of American medical missionaries in advancing medical education for women in colonial India. Her broader interests also include Asian American history.
