Born and raised in small-town Motueka (New Zealand), Callum Allardice’s career began at 15 when he started gigging with his jazz group and participated in various festivals and competitions.
Known for his evocative and complex jazz compositions, Callum has been honoured with the APRA Best Jazz Composition award three times for his works His group, The Jac, won the Recorded Music NZ Best Jazz Artist award in 2020 for their albumA Gatheringfrom. Callum completed a Bachelor of Music and a Post-Graduate Diploma in Jazz Performance at the New Zealand School of Music (NZSM) and taught Jazz Theory and jazz guitar in the Young Musician's Program, and private guitar tutoring. Callum is about to tour East Coast Australia and has a new recording which we’ll hear tracks when he joins me as my studio guest.
