There is a big acquisition this week. Salesforce is acquiring the workplace chat app Slack. This is one of the biggest acquisitions in the business software industry and this is Salesforce biggest purchase. The acquisition worked in Slack’s favor because the company has struggled competing against Microsoft and Facebook. Slack has lost half of its market value and has been unable to turn a profit the last three quarters. Salesforce and Slack becoming one will help their chances of competing with Microsoft, Oracle, and other companies in the future. Our story comes from The Verge.
