Voici le dialogue, si vous en avez besoin :
Hello, Hello.
So, what's your name?
My name is Sue.
Hello, Sue nice to meet you.
It's nice to meet you, too.
So do you live in Newcastle?
I do, yes.
How long have you been living here?
53 years. 53 years, so you know the city very well, I guess.
I do, yes, yes.
In order to teach our students a few words,
if you had to describe your city, like, say, choose three
words to describe your city, what would they be?
Beautiful, historic.
Historic.
Fun.
Fun.
Why fun?
Well, for young people in particular, it's considered to be a party city.
where lots goes on to give them entertainment.
Of course, that doesn't interest me, I'm an old
lady, but I think younger people appear to.
And why would you describe the city as historic?
Well, there's been a settlement here
documented settlement since Roman times and
continuously, there has been a town of some kind here since
the Roman settlement dates from about 50 or 60 AD.
So, yeah, and there's Roman remains, of course, there's the Roman Wall.
There's lots of medieval stuff remaining.
Beautiful redevelopment in the early 19th century
when most of the town burned to the ground.
And of course, it's a port.
So down on the riverside, the quayside, there are historic
buildings, too, the castle, the Guild Hall, which dates
from the 17th century, so yeah, there's a lot.
here.
That seems very interesting, so it makes me want to
go and visit some more, because I've just been here for a day, so
Oh, do!
Yes.
There's lots to see.
And we have theater, concerts, an
art gallery, which is just along here.
The building with the tower, you can't quite see it.
If you move further back.
That's a very good art gallery.
Well, thank you very much, Sue, so it was very nice of you to
teach some words, I hope it's useful to you.
It's definitely going to be.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Hello there.
Hello.
So what's your name?
My name is Maria.
Maria, nice to meet you. I'm Alban.
If you had to describe the city in, like,
choose three words to describe it, what would they be?
Probably vibrant, exciting, and busy.
And busy.
All right, so why busy?
I think it's just no matter what time of the day that you're out in
High street, there's always people around.
There's always, you know, friendly faces. Everyone always sort of stops and says hello.
So it always seems to be quite busy.
Are you going to be a student here?
I am a student here, actually.
I'm doing my masters of research at the minute.
And what topic... is your research on?
I do medical and molecular biology.
Thank you very much for your time
and for teaching our students a few words.
No, thank you very much, thank you.
Hi ya, how are you?
I'm good, yeah.
So, what's your name?
I'm Ben.
Okay. Hi Ben.
Do you live in Newcastle?
Yes.. Yeah I just moved in, actually.
Just moved in?
When did you move in?
Today?
Today, yeah.
very first day in Newcastle.
Yeah, I'm just out to get some bedding.
So you've been in Newcastle for about as long as I have.
I've lived here before, but today is a new start, yeah.
So in order to teach our students like two to three words,
could you describe Newcastle
Like choose two or three words to describe the city?
Okay.
Ooh.
I'd consider it quite gorgeous in many parts.
The town center is very traditional, traditional.
Very fast-paced..
Is that two words?
That's perfect, that's perfect. C'est un adjectif composé.
Fast-paced.
And also.
It's just beautiful, I think.
Well perfect.
Thank you, Ben.
Thank you very much.
