She chronicles her experiences on her blog and on Instagram (@oneikatraveller), and frequently uses her platform to shed light on racial injustice within the travel industry.

For our travel-themed episode, Oneika joins At the Bar to discuss how she followed her passion and made the unexpected pivot from a career in education to a career in travel. She shares some eye-opening examples of the discrimination she’s faced within the luxury travel industry as a Black content creator, as well as insight into what brands—and travel enthusiasts—can do in order to be anti-racist.

We also touch on the “exclusivity” problem in travel journalism, how to keep the Black Lives Matter conversation alive, and the importance of diversifying the content you’re surrounding yourself with on Instagram and on social media as a whole.
