Adam and Scott avoid rehashing Season 1 of True Detective and focus on what the new West Coast-centric season may bring.  From discussions about the importance of setting in crime fiction to the the use of the soundtrack and score to set the thematic mood, your hosts look at the small screen competition that has already given us some excellent “neon noir” (Amazon Prime’s Bosch, for example).  Season 2 is all about taking risks — signing Vince Vaughn as the villain, using a revolving door of directors and dipping your toe in waters that have been fished many times before.  Eight episodes will tell the tale.
