Many founders get culture all wrong.
Culture is not ping-pong tables and napping pods.
You’re not running a day spa. 😴😴
OK, napping pods are awesome, but there needs to be an ROI.
Culture needs to serve the team AND the business.
When asked about culture, many founders immediately think about what THEY think would be good for the team.
It needs to be balanced ⚖️
Excellent company culture means:
- happy and productive teams
- high ROI for the company
Having one without the other isn’t effective.
- Culture = Vehicle
- Company = Destination
- ROI = quality family time
Where to start?
It’s OK to ask teams what would make them more productive.
If someone suggests napping pods, promote them immediately 😂
But seriously...
Some changes are easier to implement than others.
And those changes won’t happen overnight.
That’s OK.
Start small and keep the team updated on progress.
Again, this goes back to transparency.
BONUS - the company is committed to the people, and it shows.
This above all else 👆
