This is Kenneth Vigue and I am recording this just one day after a visit to Zenimax’s Austin, Texas office, the very place that Fallout 76 was born. I also finally met my dear friend and yours Wes Johnson and y’all...there were tears to be had. The office was amazing, as were the developers I met and after signing an NDA I strolled on through, looking into the future. It was an amazing visit, made all the more amazing by one fact: in the developer lobby were tv screen cycling through different scenes. On one monitor playing was our live show from Bethesda Game Days, our season 1 finale. After asking about it, I was told that they cycle community content on the tv for the devs – so they can see the ways in which the community plays and creates in their world. I think that’s as amazing as it humbling. This has been a journey I’ve been blessed by.

But right now, today I want to tell you about two of my best friends starting their own journey. Appalachia: A Fallout 76 Story, an official spin-off series of our show is now live. The first two episodes I’m dropping in my feed hoping you’ll give it a listen and then find them on Spotify and Apple Podcast and give them a follow and a download. That really helps them get started. The story is exceptionally well written by Matthew Bartlett and Philip Lonidier with a wraparound that I’ve been writing...yes don’t worry, I’m still doing plenty of that.

This story is set parallel to our own and it opens during the Battle for Appalachia before they take us back to Year 1, back to Reclamation Day as you discover a new band of post apocalyptic misfits. I hope you’ll give it a listen and keep listening because something very important happens, something they cause – a butterfly’s wings, a pebble dropped in a pond...something that happens right here has had unintended consequences all along for Chad and the gang. But more importantly, something Mr. Dark noticed in Xander Nash, the character you met this past Halloween has him very, very concerned. This podcast and ours will meet back up in the future in our season 4 with an ending you won’t see coming.

Now, the casts of Appalachia A Fallout 76 Story and CHAD: A Fallout 76 Story invite you to cordially attend The End...and the Beginning or to put it another way, the Alpha and the Omega...

Growing up my grandmother would take me to the library in the town where I grew up every weekend. One fateful day, I ventured out of the children's room and headed up the massive Victorian staircase to the upstairs. I was awestruck by the 3-level open space, surrounded with balconies filled with books. In one cornered I wandered up to the very top level and found a dark and dusty corner room. It was filled floor to ceiling with records, which I had never seen before. I checked out "Lights Out: Murder Castle", a vintage radio horror. So began a lifelong love of the kind of audio wizardry that could be cooked up with sound long, long before television. It required an active imagination, and it cultivated it in turn.Podcasting today has given new life to this vintage auditory art form, with groundbreaking shows such as "The NoSleep Podcast", "Limetown" and "The Black Tapes" being modern versions of classic radio drama. With this podcast, 3 of my great loves have come together into some kind of mutated concoction of sound. My hope is to see more Fallout fans getting creative, sharing their passion and building on this amazing universe.PART OF THE ROBOTS RADIO NETWORKhttps://www.robotsradio.net/ Hosted on Acast.
