Matthijs Kolkmanis no ordinary gweilo walking around the streets of Hong Kong.At age 20, he is an explorer,a traveler, and a successful marketer / coder of a Smart, Wearable & Vibrating
Metronome project including its accompanying Phone App. He came to Hong Kong with a passion in the universal music scene but instead found a culture that is unique in its unapologetically fast-paced work-life as well as night-life.A Problem-Solver whether in the realm of Marketing or Code, Matt chose to learn Ruby on Rails as his career developed. He first started working back in the Amsterdam and surprisingly did not come to Hong Kong for a higher paycheck nor the opportunity to gather wealth he could not attain back home. That's not what I came here for. I came because of an opportunity to work as a marketeerhere in Hong Kong.I've spent my working days (prior) only in Amsterdam.I've built up my career in Amsterdam, working for various companies; Always have enjoyed myself but I got a little bored. With reasons as prevalent and infectious as this one, how can you not venture yourself across seas just to fix it? Matt is also eager to learn new things. Anything at all that helps him build up his Skill-sets, he's interested, seeing thathe has yet settled on a singular goal where his career path leads. He's an Alumni of a Programming Boot Camp here in Hong Kong.. . .Why does Matthijs Kolkman code?It never clicks...He went on about choosing the right tool for the right task......but that's part of the challenges right? Of coding and figuring it out of how... you should develop a task to flow freely. It never happens.
The only thing would like to point out that when you're coding and finding that flow...For instance, on Ruby on Rails for me, it's super nice when I see your code execute and I can run some queries or I can get some beautiful data...It's Hackable!Unclear of his future in Code, yet he continues to code and learn new things and will continue to do so once his work relocates him to Berlin in the coming month.
