A very thoughtful and engaging podcast. I am always recommending this one to all my podcast listening friends as I consider it one of the best!
I love to hear from Nigel and Earlene as they navigate the world of the prison system on the inside and the outside. I binged Ear Hustle for weeks all at once when I found it because it was so unlike all the podcasts out there. Truly inspiring, heartbreaking and funny as hell. You’ll fall in love with so many people from the hosts to the people in the yard. This is honest, creative and down right amazing work as a podcast. Listen to this and listen with an open mind and open heart.
It's always great to hear authentic voices of people who society often forgets. The way Earlonne and Nigel do an excellent job of allowing their guests to tell their stories in their voice in a way that never seems exploitive or voyeuristic.
From cellies, misguided loyalty and so much more. We hear from inmates on questions we always want to ask like, how do you catch a kite? What is a kite? How do you get it on with your girlfriend or wife? These are just a few subjects they cover in season one.- Podcast Junkie
Ear Hustle is a true gem in the world of podcasting. It provides much-needed insight into the world behind bars, and really humanizes incarcerated individuals in a way other podcasts, books, and documentaries fall short of. My partner and I started listening to this podcast during the beginning of covid-19, and now a year later we're still just as passionate about it. He doesn't even like podcasts, but Ear Hustle is the exception. With so much (very important) content out there about the harm of the prison industrial complex, it's refreshing to have a show that focuses on these men as people and explores their personal experiences.
A real look into the sobering reality of prison life... highly recommend.
I love this podcast. It's witty and sharp and thoughtful and big-hearted. In their own words, people incarcerated at San Quentin narrate their personal experiences of prison life, going from the practical things that we might take for granted, to deeper issues such as parenting, gender and sex trafficking.
This is possibly my favourite podcast of all time. Nigel and Earlonne are fantastic hosts who are sensitive to their interviewees and obviously caring. It is so informative and fascinating and I hope changes people's views of prisoners and the prison system, as well as the law, which in turn will one day change to encourage rehabilitation rather than eternal incarceration.
Stories with very important perspective
My husband has done 30+ years in various state prisons throughout his life, and we enjoy listening to this one together. Outstanding quality in every way.
Hearing the unison between Earlonne and Nigel speak on such powerful subjects is what introduced made me passionate about podcasts.
Fascinating and engaging. Really great hosts and stories from situations far removed from my own.
I've been binging Ear Hustle to catch up after forgetting about this podcast once season 1 finished. Season 1 wasn't too bad but I'm actually enjoying it even more in season 2 & 3. It's interesting to get a glimpse of what life's like in prison in the U.S.
Compelling human stories, fascinating to learn what live is like inside, ... and a good motivation to pursue PRISON REFORM.
I am new to this podcast even though its been going a few years.. It feels like I found a real treasure. I love podcasts, I have ADHD and they help me get through the chores.I love a human story, real life, we are a fascinating species and this ticks so many boxes. I can be horrified, surprised, compassionate and amused by these prisoners lives. The hosts are great together. The mix of lows, highs and the music are a precious insight into a place that we would otherwise have no window into. Thanks to the team. I wish you well.
Creative concept. Real inmates in jail doing a podcast about prison.
So incredibly good. I have laughed and cried listening to this podcast, and I've learned so much. It gives a wonderful human voice to incarcerated people and I'm really glad it exists
