Euphoria S1 E4 Shook Ones Pt. II

• Show starts off with Jules when she was young (pre-transition) being taken to a psychiatric hospital for treatment, by her mom.
  • They start off by making her believe that she is just there to take a tour but surprise; she is there to stay. It is so sad when she realizes that her mother is leaving her there.
  • Jules freaks out and during the struggle, she scratched an RN in the face and is put into restraints.
  • The narration explains how Jules hated everything about herself; her body, her brain and everything else in her life.
    • Her brain and her body were mismatched and left her in a lifelong depression.
  • While in the Psych hospital, she gets the orderly to leave behind an aluminum can and slices her wrist.
  • She immediately regrets it and lets the orderly know.
    • Funny thing is that she is worried about them being mad at her and sorry she did it.
  • By 15, she started her transition and by 16, became slutty; hooking up with older men.
  • Jules is very broken and then she meets Rue.
    • Now she is actually happy because she has met Tyler and it all seems to be going well.

• Next scene we see Rue meeting with Ali and is going on and on about bullshit.
• She called him because of her situation with Jules and subsequent breakdown at Fez’s house but doesn’t tell Ali.
  • You can’t get help if you are not honest with the people you seek help from.
  • Ali explains to Rue that he believes Jules is Rue’s new drug of choice.

The next scene centers around the carnival and jumps from character to character. 

We first see Fez and Ashtray setting up their pretzel stand/drug store.

 MADDIE-

• Maddie and Nate arguing about Maddie’s outfit.
  • Nate tells her to go home and change because she looks like a hooker.
  • He says that his parents already don’t like her, and she is making things worse.
• Maddie meets up with Fez looking for Molly and is directed to the pretzel stand.
  • On the way there, she meets up with Cassie and they both go to the pretzel stand where Ashtray hooks them up.  
  • Maddie and Cassie are on the Ferris wheel, totally tripping out.
  • Maddie and Cassie are in the house of mirrors, still tripping.
    • They decide to cease from taking any more shit from anyone.
  • Maddie interrupts the Jacobs family after they win the trophy for the best chili.
    • She says, “I’m not supposed to be here because I am dressed like a hooker”, clearly jabbing Nate with the comment he rudely told her earlier that night.
    • She tips over the pot of chili and calls Nate’s mom a cunt and is then grabbed by the arm by Nate and whisked away in a rage.
  • Nate grabs Maddie by the throat and slams her against a trailer and tells her she is dead to him.
    • Maddie tells him she has one question for him and confronts him about the dick pics on his phone.
    • He tells her that he is going through a lot and begs her not to tell anyone.
    • He tells her that he loves her and that he is sorry.
    • Maddie looks worried but goes along with it.
  • When she gets home, she sees the marks on her neck, left by Nate when he choked her.

CASSIE-

• McKay and Cassie come to the Jacob’s chili stand where McKay makes the mistake of answering Nate’s question as to their relationship as “We just chillin”.
  • Cassie gets pissed and storms off and McKay follows her.
  • McKay tells her that he did it, so Nate won’t talk shit about her past to him. Cassie tears up and McKay calls it a night. 
• Cassie goes to find Daniel and ask him to ride the carousel with her and is really having fun.
  • Her and Daniel are making out
  • When we come back to her, Cassie has an orgasm by herself but realizes that everyone is watching.
• Cassie is in tears when she meets up with Maddie and tells her that she thinks the Molly’s were too strong.

KAT-

• Then it jumps to Jules and Kat waiting to get on the Graviton, but Jules sees Rue and goes to speak to her, leaving Kat to go on by herself but Ethan shows up and rides next to her.
• Ethan and Kat chill together and he sends Kat to get more slushies and he goes to get more tickets but runs into his sister’s co-worker who is super-hot.
  • Kat sees him speaking to her and thinks that he is hooking up with this hot blonde.
• Kat meets up with the captain, a previous student at East Highland.
  • She tells him that she heard that he had a huge dick and fucked everyone in his grade.
  • She tells him she is 16 but he doesn’t seem to have a problem with it because they wind up fucking.

RUE-

• Remember when Jules left Kat at the Graviton? Jules and Rue hug while Rue’s sister then tells Lexi that she believes Rue is in love with Jules and for a minute, Lexi looks jealous.
  • Rue’s sister leaves to meet friends, leaving Lexi by herself.
• Jules sees Cal Jacobs and freaks out, explaining to Rue that Cal is the guy she recently fucked at the motel.
  • Rue doesn’t believe her so in order to prove it, she walks up to the chili stand and orders a cup of chili.
  • Cal freaks out and drops the chili; all the while, Nate is looking like someone killed his dog and makes him watch.
• Rue and Jules take off hysterically when Rue gets a call from her mom who informs her that Gia hasn’t answered her phone.
  • Rue and Jules continue looking for Gia and decide to split up.
  • While looking for Gia, Jules gets a text from Tyler (Nate) asking if she wants to meet up.
  • Gia and a friend go to meet some boys in the parking lot.
  • Rue eventually finds Gia smoking weed with the twins in the parking lot.
    • Gia doesn’t want to go with Rue until one of the twins ask her when she turned into such a bitch and was it when she OD’d.
    • Rue and Gia walk home, and Rue tells her to go straight to bed and she will cover for her.
    • When they get home, Rue runs interference with Mom.

JULES-

• Jules freaks when Nate walks up in Tyler’s place, but Nate tries to reassure her that he is not there to hurt her.
  • Nate sounds more like Tyler when he proclaims to her that he really loved getting to know her.
  • When Jules tells him that she doesn’t trust him; he responds that he doesn’t trust her either.
  • They kiss and he puts his finger in her mouth and tells her to open wider; the very same thing that his dad told her at the motel.
  • Nate begins to blackmail her, saying that he will turn her in for transmitting child pornography if she does anything to ruin his family.
  • Jules tells Nate “you know what I think? I think you are a fucking faggot, just like your daddy”.
  • He grabs her roughly and tells her to have a nice night.

CAL-

• Cal Jacobs went looking for Jules earlier and finally finds Jules and begs her not to expose him and she reassures him that she has no intention of telling anyone.
• When Cal Jacobs gets home, he realizes that the DVD with Jules and his sexcapades is missing, realizing that Nate is aware of his play time.
• Jules winds up at Rue’s window and ask to spend the night.
• When Rue as how the date went with Tyler, Jules answers, “he didn’t look like his picture”.
• We then find Rue comforting Jules while they stare into each other’s eyes.
• This leads to a passionate kiss while the scenes bounce back and forth showing Rue and Jules getting closer in different situations.
