Once upon a time, a friend and I started a business called Loading Dock Auctions, where we planned to open a storefront and sell other people's stuff on Ebay for a commission. We did it for a while, but man, that was a lot of work and we quickly realized that people wanted to sell their stuff which wasn't nearly as valuable as they believed. Initially, we just rejected the crap and looked for the diamonds in the rough, but they were far and few between and still no guarantee that the stuff would sell.

So, I shifted my online attention to other methods of generating income. The ones I like the most are the ones which bring in residual income. Put something online, monetize it and rake in the dough. Okay, usually you don't need a rake. Maybe a cocktail fork. But money is money and if one idea brings you ten bucks a month, ten of those ideas will bring in $100.

That being said, no one who is looking to make money online should overlook Ebay.
