Race makes a difference in how stories are reported--even when matters are not explicitly about race. Journalists have received criticism for using passive voice to describe white perpetrators of crime, of failing to use proper titles when describing people of color in stories, and of simply failing to cover issues that impact people of color. Would a more diverse press make a difference.
