Ernest Hooper brings a wealth of media experience and community engagement knowledge to his current role as vice president of communications for the United Way Suncoast. He previously served cancer patients, survivors, thrives, and caregivers as the communications director for the American Cancer Society's southwest Florida division, promoting the nonprofit's events in an 11-county region. Prior to joining ACS, Hooper spent 27 years serving Tampa Bay Times readers as a columnist, editor, sportswriter, and ambassador. He's best known for his longtime work as a community columnist, which included his tagline "That's All I'm Saying." That tagline is also the name of his monthly public affairs television show, That's All I'm Saying, which enters its seventh season on WEDU-PBS. In addition, Hooper co-leads The Write Field Program, a writing-intensive for middle school and high school boys at the Poynter Institute for Media Studies.
