Your host, Timea, is an internationally recognized human rights activist, survivor of human trafficking, best-selling author, and trainer. Ten years after her escape, she decided to give back. She opened Canada's first 24/7 mobile crisis centre, Canada's first safe house for victims of human trafficking, and Canada's first victim services specialized in human trafficking. She assisted over 500 investigations in Canada and the US and trained over 200,000 professionals from the front-line community and the banking system on the signs of human trafficking. She assisted over 500 victims in crisis and was a key person in supporting the RCMP during Canada's first largest human trafficking case in history. She is a former UN and OSCE commissioner, supporting global efforts to raise awareness among government leaders and the financial sector worldwide. During her advocacy, she assisted victim rescue operations in the States, then would often trade her jeans for a suit to advise kings and queens, presented with celebrities, and was in rooms where cameras normally don't go. No, she will not be able to discuss those conversations here sadly :-)

Her passion is supporting frontlines, and she offers insight from the perspective of a trauma survivor and former front-line worker.

This podcast will unpack the mindset of a traumatized individual and how to support or de-escalate them, the victim's perspective on frontline workers in the middle of a crisis, and how to break barriers in minutes. It will also talk about YOU as a human being, as a helper, your feelings and thoughts about certain everyday work-related events, and uplifting discussions that can help you navigate when your cup is empty.
