In this episode, I had the pleasure of sitting down with author Lexi Hudson to discuss her book "The Soul of Civility." We explored her view that civility goes deeper than mere politeness, involving a respect for others' humanity. Lexi shared fascinating tales from history showing how figures from different eras and cultures promoted treating people with dignity. I was struck by her insight that a just society depends on both the small kindnesses in our daily lives, as well as speaking difficult truths - but doing so with empathy and care for others. It was a thoughtful conversation about finding ways to disagree without tearing each other down.
