Rowena Alderson and her husband moved to Estepona, on the Costa del Sol, in January 2019. Meeting her husband in a pub turned Rowena’s life around, as she followed him to some of the world’s most turbulent corners, both as an aide worker and as a contracts manager. 

Rowena worked in the Democratic Republic of Congo during the Rwandan refugee crisis, where she was held up at gunpoint on more than one occasion, and she and her husband were the last couple to get married in Bosnia in the last millennium. 

Rowena chats about her life travelling and working in the Middle East, Rwanda and Bosnia and what brought her to Spain.
