After coming across a set of spoilers for the upcoming Sarah J Maas book, A Court of Frost and Starlight, involving her favorite character, Nesta, Lulu goes on a mini rampage on whether the excessive use of redemption arcs is a necessity, or simply thrown in to make an asshole character likable. Can you have a character be an asshole and still be liked? Still have everyone be okay with them? Or is it only applicable based on gender?
