About Dr. Monique Charles

Dr. Monique is described as the BRAINY, BRAWNY and BEAUTIFUL Blackademic by many who know her. Through working with her and speaking with her, she really is the epitome of all three qualities.

She wears many hats and more recently has added Sound Therapy to her growing portfolio of passions and skills.

She is a Cultural Sociologist, Theorist and Methodologist. She has developed a research method to analyse and understand music for the social science and cultural studies fields. Monique completed her PhD at Warwick University focusing on ‘race’, spirituality, class, gender & music as it relates to #Grime. #HBTG?

Monique always tries to maintain a positive mindset to see the beauty in life. She is ‘big’ on personal development and investing in oneself. She ensures that she surrounds herself with those who help her maintain high standards. Monique simply desires to inspire and motivate others to achieve their pursuits. She feels it is important to be impactful and contribute towards shaping the world we live in for good.

Dr Monique Charles, recently co-authored on a book project which gives a critical analysis of the misfailings of the Grenfell disaster from legal, cultural, media, community and government perspective, asking whether, without remedy for multifaceted power and violence, we will ever really be 'after' Grenfell?
