"Smack in the Middle" goes to the next level of discovery by examining the genesis of the client's addiction and their experience with trauma, sexual abuse, discrimination, and prison while they attempt the long road of recovery. While we understand that Baltimore has become the heroin capital of the nation, we are still learning how the drug culture started. What do addicts experience while addicted and what keeps them coming back to the drug that destroyed their lives? Radio award winning Host, Shari Elliker and Producer Neil Beller, along with Man Alive Executive Director, Karen Reese, created this podcast to expose issues specifically relating to the Baltimore City addict, believing that knowledge creates understanding and understanding reduces stigmatization. Please listen to these unflinching and sometimes shocking accounts of what life is like when you are, "Smack in the Middle”.
