Hello, and welcome to another episode of Some Random Thoughts. I am your host, Ryan Mulkowsky. This season, we focus on our guests in the “What’s Your Passion” series. We continue this season with Dorie Griggs: first responder & healthcare chaplain and sports enthusiast.
In this episode, we discuss Griggs’ background as an avid sports enthusiast having had statistician, marketing and coordinating jobs in various levels of sports management. We discuss her later shift into the world of ministry and her creative, original work ministering to those in the industry of journalism. A discussion of her pastoral identity continues as she expounds on entering seminary, her work in interfaith relations, clinical pastoral education, and her work as a first responder and hospital chaplain. We talk about our identities and approaches to chaplaincy and what we see chaplaincy being in the future in a growing secularized society.
Bio: Dorie Griggs is a first responder chaplain with the Roswell Fire Department and registry chaplain with Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital. She is a commissioned and endorsed minister with the Federation of Christian Ministries. Dorie is also an avid sports enthusiast still involved in volunteering for major sporting events such as the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.
