The Stand Firm Daily Devotional Podcast is here to encourage you to hold on in midst of the craziness of life and features the reading of 40-Day devotional books from Stand Firm authors. Author Jake McCandless reads the Selah Award finalist Invincible: A 40-Day Journey to Increase Your Confidence in God by Jake McCandless and Rita Halter Thomas. This devotional features Biblical accounts of God's great feats that show that He gives His people victory, provision, and protection. He's done this in the Old Testament, New Testament, Beyond the Bible, Now, and in the the future. This episode includes part of the book's introduction. The full introduction can be read in the devotional book available at https://www.amazon.com/Invincible-40-Day-Journey-Increase-Confidence-ebook/dp/B07WR7T1N8/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=invincible+devotional+book&qid=1585674311&sr=8-3.

Here's the introduction...

Introduction
A young shepherd boy walked onto the plain, armed only with a sling and five stones, to face an undefeated giant; one warrior picked up a donkey’s jawbone to defeat 1,000; a general led 300 men against an army of 135,000. Although each person was seemingly outnumbered and overmatched, all marched forward with a swagger and staggering confidence. The swagger and staggering confidence, in their God who sent them, baffled the onlookers and odds-makers. With unflinching obedience, these, who appeared to be underdogs, walked away—each with a dominant and definite victory.
A government official was thrown into a pit of lions for praying; three young men were sentenced to be burned alive because they didn’t bow; a disciple was boiled in a vat of oil for preaching. All of them were given ultimatums and threatened. All were fully aware that their bold stances for God placed their lives at risk. They flinched not. They remained faithful. Their heads were held high even when led to their fates. Each told their executioners that their God could save them.
These men appeared invincible.
And they were invincible—not because of their own strength or ability, but because they belonged to and followed an Invincible God.
The same God you and I belong to and follow.
Therefore, like them and because of Him, we’re invincible, too.
You may not believe that God can and will impart His invincibility upon you to carry out your calling and your walk with Him. That’s why this book was written.
You may not face life’s challenges with the swagger and staggering confidence that come from knowing that the unseen hand guiding you is stronger than any visible hand you’ll ever encounter. But you can get there. You need to get there. Again, this is the reason for this book.
Invincible is a 40-day journey–or maybe it’s better described as a 40-day workout. We want to build up your faith muscles. We want to strengthen your belief in God. We want to fortify your confidence in the God who is invincible. There’s no better way to reframe your outlook on life than remembering what God has already done. His works display a God fully capable of bringing us through whatever fire we may face. Whether that fire is a health crisis, a relationship crisis, a financial difficulty, a step of faith, a task, or a specific calling—whatever it is you’re facing or will face—you can be confident that God will bring you through. His path isn’t always easy, but it’s the right path and it’s the best path.
You need this 40-day journey. So, welcome to Invincible.
