Lin Xiangru was sent to deliver a piece of jade to the Qin State in exchange for 15 cities. However, Lin Xiangru didn’t think that the king of the Qin State would really give them 15 cities so he thought of a clever way to make sure they would either get the jade returned back to them or get the 15 cities. In the end, they got the jade back.
