Curl IQ Presents, Stylist Behind the Style! This interactive series will give you naturalistias the ability to learn more about the pain behind the beauty of some of your favorite hairstyles. The goal of this project is to show our audience that Curl IQ values the human experience that comes from being with hairstylists. We primarily plan to act on this goal by putting celebrity hairstylists in the spotlight through our Stylist behind the Styles series.
Stylist Behind the Style: Episode One with Tonya Cryer
Tonya began styling hair at age 15. After highschool she attended beauty school and competed in several international hair expos. Tonya won numerous awards and began working for several product companies as a platform artist. She returned to her alma mata and began teaching then opened several beauty salons. In 2005 she became a member of Local 706 and has since headed and keyed productions such as The Game, Ugly Betty, Shake It Up, Black AF, Scandal, Blackish and many others. In 2015 She attained east coast Local 798 union status by landing a job in Atlanta gaining her more roles on projects such as:The Banker,The Rookie, Love Has To Win, Being Mary Jane, P Valley pilot and more. Her passion is sharing and she loves to see people win. Her goal is to teach beauty professionals how to enhance their career and reach elite status as professionals in film.

Do you know everything about your hair? Probably not right? That’s okay we’re here to help. Curl IQ is a black-owned software company that identifies any texture and hairstyle from a selfie. Curl IQ was founded by Kymberlee Hill and Yemariam Mamo. In 2016, they recognized that women with textured hair were often taught to only tame and manipulate their hair as if it were some scary beast after speaking to some of their friends that summer who told them they also shared some of the same hair concerns. Kymberlee and Yemariam are a team of computer scientists and hair enthusiasts who saw an opportunity to cater to a market that is constantly underserved. Knowing how to style textured hair and keep it healthy are the cornerstones of their platform, but Curl IQ is also rooted in revolutionary political ideas. It is about rejecting unattainable beauty ideals, and not allowing them to demoralize us. Curl IQ is ultimately creating this campaign to gain brand awareness.
