Welcome to the first episode of Season Ten of the BagleyWright Lecture Series on Poetry podcast.

Season Ten is comprised of lectures written and delivered bySrikanth Reddy during his tenure as a Bagley Wright Lecturer, in 2015.

Srikanth Reddy’s series of lectures consider a range ofquestions concerning poetry and visual art, including theories of likeness, ekphrasis, and wonder.

Today, we’ll hear a recording of “The Unsignificant,” given October 2, 2015 at New York University.  This lecture considers W. H. Auden's poem “Musee des Beaux Arts” in relation to Peter Brueghel's painting “The Fall of Icarus,” and references a number of artworks.
