I have never been able to retain historical facts the way I can from this podcast. Dave and Gareth are hilariously entertaining and I often can be found cry-laughing in my car alone while listening.
I was going to say this was one of the best podcasts, but that would be a lie. It is THE best podcast. Gareth & Dave have a great rapport and I always wait for Gareth's reactions to the reveal!
Listened to an episode on Ten Cent Beer Night, and could instantly tell that these guys really try too hard to be funny. As a result of this forced humor the podcast comes across as cringeworthy, and unlistenable.
I really wanted to like it as it had high ratings, and my wife liked it. However, for a history podcast, there wasn't much history, for a funny podcast, I didn't appreciate their humor, and they took forever to get to the point (which they hadn't reached when I stopped listening). Not for me. YMMV, however.
The Dollop is the best comedy history podcast out there! Dave and Gareth are my heroes.

Often really informational and hilarious, but sometimes just ok. This is a podcast where I go from binge-listening to several episodes in a row while laughing the whole time to just skipping over episodes because they never quite grab me. If you're interested at all in a history/comedy combo, it's certainly worth a listen. The format of someone who's read up on an interesting historical tidbit explaining it to someone who's got no idea what he's in for is engaging, and Dave and Gareth are pretty funny guys. What's problematic, though, is that they don't at all do a good job of citing their sources. Which isn't to say that they don't rely on actual research - they just do a terrible job of giving proper credit to those who did all that research when they are clearly relying on their articles.
Hilarious back and forth between the hosts. Mystery Science Theater of Podcasts, telling true stories from the past. One host tells a story while the other responds to the absurd twists and turns.

Maybe it's an American taste this pod, but I find this an excruciating listen, I tried several episodes, but Gareth Reynolds is frustratingly annoying and simple not a funny at all. This a definite no if you dislike over the top, cheap American humour.
Reynolds over the top comedic improvision and Anthonys unbearably prickly personality turns a great concept into a tedious experience.
2 funny guys giving their opinions on American history. I love it.
No Sleep til Hippo!!
The best podcast. So entertaining and well put together
This podcast changed my life. Also, as a history and Media arts major it has helped me in my classes. I actually wrote my senior thesis one on of their episodes. Can not say enough amazing things about this podcast. I recommend it to everyone I know.

One guy reads history to another guy and together they improvise caricatures and vignettes as they go. They might be the history podcast equivalent of sh*tposters but it is riotously funny and the stories are enriching.
Best American history podcast ever
Super fun show! I love learning weird history facts and this is an entire podcast about them! Gareth is a comedy goldmine and his and Dave's banter is always fun. It is a very wild show, but that's what I like about it.
Dave and Gareth are the best. Podcast is informative and entertaining. If you love American history, you have to give this podcast a listen!
A hilarious way to learn about weird history.
5 stars says it all stupid
