Success isn’t always as it seems. Like Bill Gates put it into simple words, “After the first Million Dollars a hamburger still tastes the same.” Ready your mind for what you want to accomplish, it’s the thing that will pull you through.

What a stupid thing to say: you will never be successful.

The reality, though, is that you will reach success, but the first question you’ll ask yourself when you get there is this:

Is this all there is?

Goals

We all set goals for ourselves. Whether we do it consciously, or write it down, we always have something that we go are going for.

But when we get there, in other words, when we are successful, instead of patting ourselves on the back, we look around us, see that nothing much has changed, and then we feel unsatisfied, forget what we’ve achieved, and start on the next journey, to the next ‘success’.

This is all good! As long as we understand what is happening.

YOU define YOUR success. And that’s why I said: you will never have success. Because you will always move goalposts.

We ALL do.

Someone ask a very wealthy man once: Are you successful? And he said: NO.
When will you be successful?
When I earn $2m K per month. He was ‘only’ earning $1k p.m.at the time.
According to HIS definition, he was a failure.

And I can tell you now: as soon as he hit that $2m K, he will be satisfied for half a day, then move the goalposts.

And that’s good!

Why?

Because success is the Journey, not the goal. What must he do with the rest of his life if he feels he has arrived at age 35? Play golf? Playing golf very quickly start to feel like a job if you do it every single day.

The best definition of success I’ve ever heard is this:

“Success is the gradual realization of a worthy goal”

It’s a journey, not a destination. A series of completed events, as Matt Theriault put it.

Success = effort. You are going to have to do the work.
