Safe Water for Life and Dignity (SWLD) is a non-profit organization that has been working since 2006 to provide clean and safe water to Tanzania's rural communities. SWLD has been able to build water facilities in over 400 communities that previously lacked access to clean and safe drinking water. Many women and their kids have walked for several kilometers in quest of water for domestic uses. Before SWLD operations, communities got their water from traditional unprotected shallow wells. In this debut podcast, Dr. James Nyangas, the founder and executive director of SWLD, seeks to highlight project achievements, problems and challenges encountered by beneficiary communities, and strategies toward project sustainability.
