Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes in research? And no, not the part where the scientists mix those solutions together in beakers, and not the part where a researcher's life work culminates in a career-spanning lecture series. I'm talking much deeper than that.
My name is Nicole Walker, and I'm the host of the Science of Science podcast. In my time as a clinician researcher, and now a PhD candidate in Rehabilitation Science, I've learned a lot about what goes down outside of the lab to progress and to hinder scientific research. Let's talk about how scientists even get money to carry out their research, the impact of climate change on research in health and social sciences, and how exactly a 2014 challenge to pour ice water over your head linked social media and medical research for good. Ever heard of crowd science, predatory journals, or parallel innovation? We'll cover all of these and more in the coming episodes of the Science of Science podcast.
