Intimate relationships stimulate your attachment style and trigger either trust or fear based on your relationship experience with parents or primary caregivers in childhood.

People who feel independent when on their own, are taken aback when they become dependent once they’re dating or in a committed romantic partnership with someone.

If you’ve ever felt confronted by the experience of being single and independent and then the minute you date someone you convert into a needy, anxious, and clingy individual you hardly recognize, this is because this relationship is unconsciously stimulating your attachment style.

No matter how much devotion, affection, love, and support a person offers someone with an anxious-preoccupied attachment style it will never feel like the love is enough.

A person with a dismissive-avoidant attachment style will feel compelled to reject and run from stable love and intimacy. They will accept companionship but crave control and isolation.

A lot of the behavior traits expressed by people with an anxious-preoccupied and dismissive-avoidant attachment styles look like and feel like codependency.

Your attachment style can be transformed into a secure attachment style by addressing the things that disconnect you from your authentic essence—love.

During this episode, I provide a variety of practical steps and reflection prompts that will help you shift out of maladaptive behavior patterns, re-connect you to your power, and kick start improving your relationship with self and others.
