Over a MacDonald’s Happy Meal two teenagers, Kim Edwards, 14 and Lucas Markham also fourteen, plotted the brutal murder of Kim’s mother Liz and her younger sister Katie.

Kim’s mother, alarmed at the intense and toxic relationship her daughter had quickly developed with a fellow school pupil, had banned Lucas Markham from the family home.   From a violent background herself, Kim’s mother knew all the dangerous abusive signs she was seeing in her teenage daughter’s boyfriend.

Why did the dreadful planning and slaying of two sleeping people come so easily to them both?  And what was in their troubled backgrounds that led them down this murderous path?
