In the  first book of Samuel, Chapter 29, verses 1-11, David learns from King Achish that the princes of the Philistines do not trust him to fight against King Saul and his own people. The Most High has better plans for David, which will put him in a more advantageous position.

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of the Most High abideth for ever.
