On this very special episode of the Word of the Nerd Podcast, we have an exclusive interview with actor, director, teacher and author, Richard Hatch.  After an all-too brief interview last year at DragonCon, we were able to get Richard to sit down with us via Skype and answer all of our questions and more.  We get the scoop on his early career and what he’s been doing since his days on Battlestar Galactica.  So sit back and listen to one of the most fun and energetic interviews we have ever done on Word of the Nerd.

About Richard Hatch

Award winning actor Richard Hatch is best known for his Golden Globe nominated portrayal of Captain Apollo in classic Battlestar Galactica and for playing the integral role of political activist Tom Zarek in the re-imagined version of the iconic series. He also starred as Lt. Dan Robbins in the Streets of San Francisco and originated the Philip Brent character in All My Children. Hatch’s recent projects include Cowboys & Engines, an adventurous steampunk pilot with Malcolm McDowell, and Prelude to Axanar in which he plays the key role of Klingon Commander Kharn. Richard just wrapped up shooting the feature film Enchanted Cottage and has joined the cast of the series Blade of Honor.

Hatch’s directing credits include Second Coming, a self produced movie trailer depicting his vision of a Battlestar Galactica universe 20 years into the future, and a short for White Wings, a period piece about domestic violence set in the 1920’s. He has also written, produced and directed an infomercial for the securities industry and produced his own reality series, Who the Frak. Richard is slated to direct With Honor, a movie set in the Vietnam War era.

When not busy directing and performing, Richard teaches acting and personal growth workshops around the country.  He also teaches a weekly acting class in Los Angeles. Hatch is in the process of completing his science fiction novel The Great War of Magellan (G.W.O.M); plans for a web series and an online game for the novel are in the works.
