What do you get when you mix Autism Acceptance Month, the Month of the Military Child, and a politician with zero chill? Apparently, my entire April.

In this inaugural not-a-podcast (more on that later), I dive into neurodiversity, military life, and throw some well-earned side-eye at RFK Jr. — who just kept saying things and delaying my launch like a one-man chaos tornado. Every time I thought the episode was finished, he opened his mouth again. Eventually, I had to look myself in the mirror and say, “Enough is enough. Wrap this shit up and share it. We can play ball later.”

So I did. I taught myself to use GarageBand, learned how to publish on Buzzsprout, built a new Instagram account, and then — plot twist — decided I didn’t even want to call it a podcast. This audio is now just the voice-y side of my written blog over at britthaddix.square.site. Think of it as the peanut butter to my blog’s jelly. This episode was a touch more serious than future episodes will be. From now on you can come for the advocacy, stay for the catharsis. It’ll be heartfelt, a little feisty, and definitely held together by caffeine and spite.

From The Podcast

Art, activism, and the threads that hold us together through process, presence, and the politics of making.Hi, I’m Britt and I'm an artisan papermaker and mixed media fiber artist. Welcome to my quiet corner of the internet where I share the deeper stories behind my work: what fuels it, what challenges it, and what gives it meaning.Between the Fibers is part studio journal, part personal essay, and part open conversation. It lives behind the scenes of my art practice, Loom & Deckle, and holds space for reflection, connection, and community. I’ll write about what it means to create within a culture of urgency, and what it looks like to choose slowness, softness, and sustainability instead.Sometimes I’ll share what I’m working on in the studio. Sometimes I’ll write about what I’m reading or learning. Sometimes I’ll reflect on what it means to be a working artist and human in this moment. So, why the name Between the Fibers?Because so much of what matters happens in the in-between. The invisible work. The held tension. The quiet repair. The conversations I carry in my hands. Whether it’s pulp becoming paper or yarn becoming form, the process is where the story lives. Thanks for being here. I’m glad you found your way.Stay connectedYou can explore my work at britthaddix.square.site or follow along on Instagram and Threads @loom.and.deckle You can also subscribe to the newsletter for new blog posts, studio updates, and podcast episodes delivered right to your inbox.
