Join me on this very vulnerable episode where I explain all that I've learned over the past few months. What feels like a very fast-paced start to the year with regards to my healing has taught me more than any life experience ever could, including some of the most painful ones. As much as my mind has felt very against me, I am very grateful that it has taken me to these depths so I could backtrack, start to rewire my brain and understand where such loud, cruel, intrusive thoughts originated from.
What I now know to be OCD, the help of weekly therapy sessions, lots of self-learning and fantastic communities online, has helped massively when it comes to self-help as opposed to letting my mind just roam free which would only lead to rumination and a strong need to "figure it out". As I mentioned throughout this episode, there is no way of knowing what 'plants the seed' with mental illness or battles in the mind but we can look at the experience with compassion as that's where healing always starts.
I mention some of the ways that my brain works throughout this episode alongside what thought cycles can look like with OCD and common treatments. However, I would like to mention that this is only what I have learned along the way and that I am not a licensed therapist or health professional. If you are concerned for your mental well-being, please reach out to your GP for advice.
